2011 Jeep Commander

Specifications prices Modifications and Image 2011 Jeep Commander
Jeep was one of the first automakers to see a civilian market for the military-style vehicles post WWII. And as you’d expect, the Commander comes from a long line of Jeeps and is consistent with the Jeep heritage. With design highlights taken from its iconic brother, the Grand Cherokee, and an added 3rd row of seating, the Commander is one of the largest Jeeps in production history. Also grabbing some styling cues from the more classy Hummer and Range Rover lines, the Commander’s exterior style has some added prestige. With its menacing size, it is one of the larger vehicles on the road today.

You cant be everything to everybody. Thats the lesson we take away from the 2010 Jeep Commander. Nostalgic styling, off-road prowess, seating for seven and a luxurious interior seem to be too much to all fit into this midsize Jeep. It manages to meet these goals, but just barely and not without some significant drawbacks.

The Commanders exterior styling is an obvious nod to the Cherokee from years past, but that Jeeps boxy look is a bit too fresh in our minds to be considered "retro." Inside, youll find a third-row seat -- the Commander is the only Jeep product to offer one. However, theres just not much interior room, and consequently, adults will find both the second and third rows rather cramped. To compound the space issues, the Commander holds significantly less cargo than its competitors.
INTERIOR
The 2010 Jeep Commander is a seven-passenger midsize SUV that is offered in two trim levels: Sport and Limited. The Sport models standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels; heated exterior mirrors; foglights; a roof rack; front and rear air-conditioning; full power accessories; an eight-way power driver seat; a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel; a 40/20/40-split second-row bench; a 50/50-split third-row bench; rear parking sensors; and a six-speaker stereo with a CD/MP3 player, an auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio. Adding the optional Sun and Sound Group will provide a touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic reporting, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a rearview camera, a sunroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth and an upgraded audio system with a 30GB music server and iPod integration.

Stepping up to the Commander Limited includes all of the Sports Sun and Sound Group features plus auto-dimming exterior mirrors, dual-zone climate control, heated second-row seats, power-adjustable pedals, a power liftgate, driver-seat memory and remote engine start. Xenon headlights and a rear-seat entertainment system (with Sirius Backseat TV) are available on the Limited, as are adaptive headlights and various towing packages. A chrome exterior trim package is also available for both Sport and Limited models.
EXTERIOR
The Commander comes from a long line of Jeep models and was designed to look and act as a utilitarian vehicle. It is instantly recognized as a Jeep with many design cues transcending from its brethren – the grille, the square-ish surfaces, the wheel openings and its headlamp module. For 2010, the Commander build was based on the Grand Cherokee, but is longer and taller offering a 3rd row for additional seating or for cargo space. Both the 2nd and 3rd row seats can be folded into a flat loading floor. It’s very versatile since all the rear seats can be arranged in any way for the most practical way to transport gear and people.

The Commander also comes with Jeep’s 3-year/36,000 basic limited warranty and 5-year/100,000 powertrain warranty attests to the company’s increase in build quality over the years. Also, it is engineered to include some great safety features (including side curtain airbags, electronic stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, and anti-lock brakes). Pair that with good crash ratings (5-star front and 3-star roll over), the Commander will be able to take the routine fender-benders and keep on trucking without a problem.

The exterior is immediately recognizable, it is essentially a larger version of Jeep’s famous Grand Cherokee which hasn’t changed much in almost 20 years. Then there is the Commander’s overall size; it’s absolutely menacing, easily being one of the largest vehicles on the road. Its tall, box-like shape along with the overhead sun roof added a lot of cabin space. For my petite stature, I definitely exuded the small-chick-in-a-big-car syndrome. Though, it had quite a presence as it lumbered down the roads – it was quite fun to see other cars and children flee in terror.

For my personal tastes though, I found the Commander styling a tad too dated and excessive. While getting to know the Commander, I couldn’t overcome the sensation of the cheapness throughout. From the hard plastic surfaces, the incongruent designed interior, to the uninspired exterior, it felt like a car which didn’t have much love put into it. And I wouldn’t expect the Commander to give back much love either. I guess I’m just not military cool.
ENGINE
Performance for the 2010 Jeep Commander is decent, and Jeep brings back last years newly introduced 5.7-liter HEMI engine making 357 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque. The only other available engine is the base 3.7-liter V-6 (also used in the Liberty) that produces 210 horsepower. However, thats not nearly enough strength for this big Jeep, even with a standard five-speed automatic. The HEMI V-8 features a Multi-Displacement System (MDS), which is supposed to help improve fuel economy. The truth is, the 2010 Jeep Commander still gets lousy mileage regardless of which engine you choose (the 3.7-liter V-6 gets just 15 mpg city). If this alone doesn’t deter you from the Commander, go with the big engine; you won’t get much worse fuel economy but plenty more grunt.
SAFETY
All Commanders come standard with antilock disc brakes, full-length side curtain airbags, traction control and stability control with rollover mitigation.

In government crash tests, the 2010 Jeep Commander was awarded a perfect five out of five stars for frontal collision protection.

Driving Impressions

The 2010 Jeep Commander provides a quiet and comfortable ride while rolling down the highway, but potholes and bumps tend to trigger some excessive body undulations. When straying into the wilderness, though, the Commander comes into its own with its sophisticated 4WD systems, abundance of wheel travel and respectable ground clearance. Rugged terrain is easily tamed, but for those who regularly hit the trails, we would suggest a more compact Jeep, as the Commanders beefy proportions are a bit too much for narrower passages.

Short News Qoros shows us the their flagship sedan for 2020

Short News: Qoros shows us the their flagship sedan for 2020
-

This particular project was done by the 22 year old designer from London, Jamie Barrett, helped by Gert Hildebran, Philippe Eberl and Tim Pilsbury, helping him get a job in the Shanghai design studio where we will work in the design of Qoros future models.

The objective of this concept was to show the lines that will serve as a basis for the other models that will be released by the Chinese company. Although the front can remember a bit of an Audi R8, the car stands out enough to not be called a copy of something else.

2014 Acura MDX Price and Specs

2014 Acura MDX Price and Specs, Acura has release their new car 2014 acura MDX. The MDX is one of Acura’s most popular offerings, so it is perhaps with little surprise that the redesigned 2014 model won’t differ much from the current version, at least in terms of styling. Despite the carry-over looks, Acura is working to make the new MDX roomier and more fuel efficient. see 2014 acura picture below

2014 Acura MDX

especially, The outgoing model’s 300-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 engine is being ditched for a new, direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 with variable cylinder management. Acura has not yet released power figures for the new MDX’s V-6, but the company says the engine will make more torque than the old 3.7-liter while delivering better fuel economy. The MDX’s new powerplant probably is the same as the one powering the 2014 RLX sedan; in that application, the 3.5-liter makes 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque and bolts up to a six-speed automatic. Expect similar specs for the 2014 MDX.

Fortunately, Acura’s signature torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive system, which can distribute torque between the front and rear axles, as well as between the left and right rear wheels, survived the redesign.

Jeep Wrangler Body Lift The Vehicle Suspension

Jeep Wrangler Body
Body lift or suspension lift: 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ to lift your way there are basically two. Each performance, there are advantages and disadvantages in terms of price and ease of installation, we can distinguish between the two countries first.

Suspension (curvature or higher) and higher springs, by replacing the spring, away from the shaft, was placed under the car (chassis). Lift raises your body away from the window of a vehicle lift with a comma. It is available in the soil space. We recommend stopping the release of a plan to use cars from the road, and we recommend that you increase your sense of attraction for those who want to offload the car appeared. This does not mean that he can not lift the body from road vehicles. It won a cleanup, and just run, will improve the cars suspension. Usually 2-4 inches (most are "extreme" There are several companies that produce group) during the suspension of the Jeep Wrangler YJ, bodily resurrection, for between 3 inches to 1 inch.
This gives the plant a car ride, the suspension is modified so that all the suspension components is more complex than the body lift. Tara is a hot water and paper, and the car springs are usually more difficult than the paper mill is difficult from the comfort of a soft spring factory. You may need to be a surprise anymore. Full Vehicle (all except as) and the weight of the car now because the ground will have a high center of gravity. In some cases, to reduce vibration Jeep Wrangler, this transfer is reduced, in background are known to move short distances do not agree with the increase easier to change the position of the rear differential drive system there - point of U.

Advantages: high approach and departure angles and ground clearance of departure that most of you, and allow the installation of larger tires.

Cons: expensive, drive (subject to vibration) to install the line in the corner is to increase the more time you raise the center of gravity, changing the brake lines or, if need be necessary to delay new surprises.
Body, especially a set of spacers are inserted into points of attachment between the vehicle frame and body, a relatively modest increase. Its all part of the heavy vehicles to the location of their plant (transfer case and chassis engine, transportation, etc.), thus leaving the center of gravity (increase) the car will not increase as much as you lift your comments.

Pros: Cheap, fast tires, and larger (all the components that come in a small box) to allow easy installation and can be installed using basic hand tools.

Disadvantages: Appearance (with significant differences between the body and the bus frame), and improvement of land facilities, additional pressure.

Lift (while allowing the installation of large tires) while designed to enhance off-road suspension performance at the end of the day, to improve the body and, except to allow the installation of large tires income, not provide. You must have a limited budget, Jeep Wrangler, and was looking for off-road operation is not the real intention of ever leaving the time, to lift the body that is appropriate for you if you want. However, you will find ready and Wrangler off-road durability and cost is a factor, if you raise the suspension is the only way to go.

First Drive 2013 Ford Fusion

Until its ions made it the big thing in batteries, lithium’s best-known use was as a medication for the treatment of bipolar disorder and depression. It is a mood stabilizer, a drug that levels out the ups and downs of the day. And apparently it has worked that same psychopharmacological voodoo magic on the redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion hybrid.
In an astounding feat of EPA-rated fuel-efficiency equilibrium, the new Fusion hybrid is rated at the same 47 mpg in the city, on the highway, and in combined use. That’s 47/47/47. And it’s up from the old Fusion hybrid’s 41 in the city and 36 on the highway. Moods, or fuel-economy figures, don’t get much more stabilized than that.
A new lithium-ion battery pack is an essential element of the significantly evolved powertrain. The new batteries replace the nickel-metal hydride ones used in the previous-generation Fusion hybrid and combined with a new, more powerful 118-hp electric motor allow the new Fusion hybrid to operate solely on electric power at speeds up to 62 mph. That’s up from 47 mph in the previous Fusion hybrid.
Instead of running the 156-hp, 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four that the old Fusion paired with a 106-hp electric motor, the new Fusion gets a more efficient 2.0-liter, 141-hp Atkinson-cycle four and a 118-hp electric motor. As before, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) oozes power out through the front wheels. Ford claimed a net 191 hp for the 2012 Fusion hybrid and says the 2013 Fusion hybrid’s drivetrain nets a slightly lower 188 hp.
Our acceleration estimates peg the new Fusion hybrid at about a half second slower to 60 mph and through the quarter-mile than last year’s model. Around town, however, the 2013 Fusion hybrid feels delightfully responsive, no doubt due to the fact that the hybrid’s electric motor delivers its maximum-rated 117 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 11 lb-ft over last year’s hybrid) instantaneously. Never does the new Fusion hybrid’s powertrain feel anything but tractable.
Ford also has packed the hybrid drivetrain efficiently into the new Fusion body shell. For instance, despite the batteries, the rear seat folds flat to handle longer cargo. And passenger accommodations don’t seem compromised at all. The cabin overall is roomy and the seats are comfortable, although ingress and egress into the rear seat can be difficult and the interior is a bit starkly decorated.
In most ways, the new Fusion hybrid drives at least as well as its more conventionally powered sibling Fusions. The electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering has some feel, and the strut-type front and multilink rear suspension is a bit firm but comfortable. The whole car feels solidly built. This isn’t a car for burning through corners, after all; it’s a car optimized to burn as little fuel as possible while completing its daily chores.
As to the drivetrain itself, it all operates with seamless ease. Because the Fusion hybrid is quiet no matter which motor is doing the pulling (Ford uses electronic sound-canceling technology to make the passenger cabin a virtual sarcophagus), it’s sometimes difficult to register exactly when there’s a transition from one power source to another. As with all hybrids, most drivers will require some virtuous coaching by the car itself to get the best mileage out of the system, but Ford’s provocations are among the least intrusive or obnoxious.
Considering its impressive economy, beautiful exterior, sweet and easygoing personality, and reasonable $27,995 starting price, the 2013 Fusion hybrid is likely to be popular. However, it looks pretty much like any other Fusion from the outside, so if you’re looking for a hybrid that shouts its environmental virtue to the world, get a Prius. A well-kitted Titanium trim level will be added early next year for $32,995, so at least that one will look more expensive.
This Fusion hybrid may soon be overshadowed by a new plug-in version that’s promised for early 2013. Dubbed the Fusion Energi, that car will feature huge EPA numbers — Ford is projecting more than 100 MPGe, putting it into Volt and Prius-plug-in territory. It could wind up the most zoned-out, mellow-mood moving machine, ever.

Ford GT40

The Ford GT40 was a aerial achievement sports car and champ of the 24 hours of Le Mans four times in a row, from 1966 to 1969 (1966 actuality the Mk II, 1967 the Mk IV, and 1968-1969 the oldest anatomy design, the Mk I). It is so far the alone racecar congenital in America (Mk IV only) to win all-embracing at Le Mans (1967 Mk IV).

It was congenital to win long-distance sports car contest adjoin Ferrari (who won at Le Mans six times in a row from 1960 to 1965). Anatomy # P-1075, which won in 1968 and 1969, is the aboriginal car in Le Mans history to win the chase added than already with the aforementioned chassis, and alone one of two cars to accept won with the aforementioned chassis.) application a Ford agent originally 4.7- liter, continued to 4.9-liter (also accepted as a 5.0) with appropriate admixture Gurney-Weslake butt head.

The car was called the GT (for Grand Touring) with the 40 apery its all-embracing acme of 40 inches (1.02 m, abstinent at the windshield) as appropriate by the rules. Large displacement Ford V8 engines (4.2 liter, 4.7 liter and 7 liter) were used, compared with the Ferrari V12 which displaced 3.0 liter or 4.0 liter.

Early cars were artlessly called "Ford GT".The name "GT40" was the name of Fords activity to adapt the cars for the all-embracing ability antagonism circuit, and the adventure to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The aboriginal 12 "prototype" cartage agitated consecutive numbers GT-101 through GT-112. The "production" began and the consecutive cars, the MkI, MkII, and MkIIIs,( with the barring of the MkIV, which were numbered J1-J10)were numbered GT40P/1000 through GT40P/1145, were clearly "GT40s". The name of Fords project, and the consecutive numbers allay the news that "GT40" was "only a nickname."

The abreast Ford GT is a avant-garde admiration to the GT40.

2010 2011 Mazda3 GX

Due to the lack of updates from before Ill post another review this time of a compact car.

Introduction: As I mentioned in my previous review of the Mazda3, it introduced in 2004 as the Mazda Proteges replacement. It uses Ford of Europes C1 platform for the successful Euro Ford Focus. Since its introduction the Mazda 3 has become one of Mazdas all time best selling vehicles in certain markets belonged to the top 10 selling vehicles. As a global vehicle the Mazda 3 found in one location was stylistically the exact same in another car market. The Mazda 3 offered a sedan and hatchback body types, one could also buy a Mazdaspeed 3 which had a 4-cylinder turbo engine making it one of the quickest FWD hatchbacks sold in most markets. Mazda replace the current 3 in 2010 with a new redesign, due to the old 3s success Mazda rather than totally change the vehicle decided to fine tune what they believed made the 3 so successful. For the 2012 model year, Mazda will introduce its new SkyActiv powertrain which will put the Mazda3 as one of the most fuel efficient cars in its segment without resorting to a hybrid system.

The old Mazda3 was a great car to drive so naturally I was rather eager to try out this version. I know quite a few people dont like the way this car looks but I was willing to look past that and see if Mazda3 made any meaningful changes to see whether they made it better...or ruined it.

Performance: The only model of the Mazda3 I got to drive is the basic GX model and unlike the previous model I driven this one has the 2.0L engine. It produces 150 hp and 135 lb.ft of torque. This engine accelerates this car from 0-100 km/h in about 9 seconds with the automatic which isnt horrible but not all that quick. As the engine cruises along its actually a quiet motor, when accelerating thats when its a bit buzzy. The fuel economy from this engine was reasonable against the Corolla and Civic, but these days it looks thirsty compared to the new Cruze, Focus and Elantra. This will change though as the 2012 model is supposed to match the newer cars with the SkyActiv powertrain.

My Score: 7/10 - This engine is good at what it does, while not hugely powerful its pretty reasonable in all other respects but on fuel economy you may want to wait for the 2012 model.

Handling: This was where the old Mazda3 was at its utter best. Im glad to say...the new one is just as good as the old one. Despite its slight weight gain it feels just as sharp and as nimble as it used to. The ride is as stiff as the older car but not to the degree of sport suspension ride choppiness. It seems as if Mazda went against going for a purely electrical power steering system and as a result this car feels a lot nicer to drive than many cars it competes against. Im glad Mazda didnt actually change any aspect to the 3s handling. Yes theres some slight body roll and being FWD it will eventually understeer but for normal driving its still very very good.

My Score: 10/10 - No changes to report from last time...and none were needed.

Interior: This is one of the biggest change from the old car and the new one. I like the look of the newer gauges over the busy looking ones from the older car. I also liked the info display screen is in the center so you dont have to totally remove your eyes from the road. The controls are much better designed than before making it easy to make adjustments without looking often. The carpet is very much upgraded over the older cars rather easy to ruin carpets. The dash is sort of a soft touch one, not entirely soft but not the awful hard plastic youd find in a Corolla or Civic. Its not all perfect though, there are still some cheap plastics to be found. The visibility in this car is reasonable, although the higher trunk line does reduce some of the rear visibility. The seats are pretty comfortable and reasonably supportive. The trunk size...still isnt very large though and the interior spacing is still not brilliant for rear seated passengers. Otherwise though, the interior has quite a few needed improvements over the old one. As for the build quality, its excellent not a single problem to report. The Mazda3 is assembled in Hofu, Japan.

My Score: 9/10 - Many many improvements over the old car, the spacing is really the only big item left to improve on.

Styling: This is the next biggest change on the Mazda3. What Mazda decided to do here was to put on the styling made by the Nagare concepts into its lineup. Many disliked the fact that looking at the car its always smiling and happy. I on the other hand, while not a fan of the look I do appreciate Mazda was trying to do something different and potentially risky. Not too many cars act the way they look, this is one of the few cars that can symbolize the feeling the driver is getting while theyre driving this car. From the rear the car is a bit less interesting, an evolution of the older cars rear to match its front. Standing out from the crowd of otherwise boring cars, by trying something different it seems Mazda wanted to differentiate itself.

My Score: 8/10 - Provocative front, ho hum rear.

Value for money: The pricing in this segment is very competitive and the Mazda3 is very much one of those cars eying for more market share. In its base form the car is very cheap and is at least equipped with power doors and windows. In its ability to excite the driver, nothing in this class is as good. It only falters when it comes to fuel economy and available standard equipment. In its favour it offers a hatchback option meaning its competition on that level is only Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Dodge. The main trouble comes from Ford and Hyundai who these days offer much nicer looking cars inside and out with better fuel economy, for much of the same money and in the case of the Ford even goes after the Mazdas strong point of driving dynamics. When this car first came out it was easily the best choice, with fierce competition its no longer the obvious choice but still a very good one.

My Score: 9/10 - Still a very good car but fierce competition has meant Mazda may need more in order to keep their sales going strong for this car. What keeps its score high is the fun level and being an all around very good car with few weaknesses to report.

Overall: 45/50 - A very good compact car, few offer as much fun for very little money as Mazda does.

Honda City CNG launched

Honda City CNG available only on the V M/T variant. Also, City V petrol gets additional AVN package.

Honda City CNG launched

Rising petrol prices, the diesel engine at least another year away and of course, the ever increasing importance of environmental consciousness has led Honda to launch a CNG variant of its second-most popular car in India, the City. The suspension has been tweaked in the new variant to ensure the added weight doesn’t interfere with handling or ride quality. The City CNG is currently available only in the V trim-level, equipped with a manual gearbox.
The City V M/T, modified for CNG kit fitment, is priced at Rs 9,03,800 with the CNG kit coming for an additional Rs 50,000. This variant also has the standard Honda 24 months/40,000km warranty on offer.

Ariel Atom coming to India

British sports car manufacturer Ariel has announced it will be introducing its Atom models to the Indian market. This news comes hot on the heels of Caterham, also a British light-weight sports car manufacturer, recently announcing its entry.
InterGlobe Established Private Limited is looking to capitalise on the racing enthusiasm that F1 has created by collaborating with the Ariel Motor Company to bring the Ariel Atom 3, the latest model, to our shores. Mr Nigel Harwood, President and CEO of InterGlobe said, The Atom is a perfect fit for any sports car enthusiast who is looking for serious fun and unbeatable performance, be it on the road or track.
The Atom has no doors, no roof and no body panels; in fact it is just an open chassis with two seats and a powertrain bolted to it. But, as a result, it offers a pure and unhinged driving experience, much like an open-wheel race car. Power comes from a 2.0-litre Honda engine in either 245bhp or supercharged 300bhp guise, both of which will be brought to India. The car has a 0-100kph time of just 2.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest accelerating production cars in the world.
Prices are uncertain as of now, but expect it to cost in the vicinity of Rs 50 lakh.

Fiat Marks 500 Launch in China

The first Fiat 500 to make its way into China was presented today in Shanghai by Fiat Group Executive Vice President for International Operations, Lorenzo Sistino.
To celebrate the launch, Fiat crafted a special version named 500 “First Edition” featuring bodywork graphics by five young Chinese designers. The special edition will be available in a limited run of just 100 numbered units ahead of the city car’s regular launch in China on September 15.
The 500 “First Edition” is based on the Lounge trim featuring a three-coat pearlescent white body color, red leather interior and special badges on the door pillars. It is equipped with the 1.4-liter MultiAir engine that delivers 101HP and is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The normal 500 that arrives in China in September will feature the same engine and gearbox offering buyers a choice of three trim levels (Pop, Sport and Lounge), 12 body colours, 9 color-material combinations for the upholstery and two interior trims (black or ivory).
All who place an order for the Fiat 500 between July 12 and September 15 will automatically enter a draw with the winner being able to exchange his or her car with one of the 100 “First Edition” models.
Sistino said the 500 hatchback will be followed next year by the 500C convertible and the “500 by Gucci” version, while he also revealed that next year Fiat will launch a new saloon made in its Chinese plant in Changsha with its local partner GAC.
